Money Learning Books - Highly Illustrated in full colour

Introducing an amazingly unique series of Australian money learning books that teach children about money in a fun and highly interactive way.

Rather than being written in a boring old 'how to' style these books have been written in a new writing genre called 'faction.'

Here the author (Greg Smith) cleverly blends non fiction with a fictional story following the adventures of three very charismatic 10 year olds Anya, Zilly and Lars. Set in the year 3050, our three little heroes are sent on different missions to find the answers to questions that may ultimately have an impact on the world they live in.

The premise of these books is that in the year 3050 the world has been taken over by one evil man and he now controls everything and everyone. As a result, he had taken all of the money from the world and dictates where people work, live and play. His deputy however, has other ideas. He wants to return the world to the good old days of the 21st century (ie the present day). Before he makes his move he must do his homework to find out how money works, how and when it can be used. As neither he, nor his staff can go unnoticed by the evil ruler, the deputy leader has asked Anya and her best friends to help. Here he asks them to go on a series of adventures (hence the three books) and to find the answers to a number of questions about money. Throughout their adventures (which include travelling back to the 21st century) Anya and her friends learn by first hand experience.

In each of the books there's action, intrigue and adventure. And of course good and evil.

However underlying the fiction, the author has included a number of very powerful morals surrounding money (such as giving to charity, respect for others and the management of greed). All ultimately aimed at providing positive attitudes towards money.

On the surface readers of the books will be so immersed and involved in their adventures that they won't even notice that they are learning about 'boring old money stuff.' Greg Smith calls that surprise learning!

This is because the learning magic happens in the dialog between each character. Here Greg has masterfully integrated conversation with key money principles and delivered them via the voice of each character.  In this way the messages actually come to life.

Each book then builds on the previous as the reading age of the child increases. That means the complexity of the content material also increases. In the second and third volumes there are even interactive on page or internet related challenges for the reader that points them back to the Kids Corner section of the Kids Money website.

The underlying content has been modeled on the National Consumer and Financial Literacy Framework set by the Australian Government Financial Literacy Foundation and is currently being assessed by the Curriculum Corporation (part of MCEETYA the Ministerial Council on Education, Employment Training and Youth Affairs). All books will be listed under the Essential Elements program (EEP) and promoted to school teachers as an Essential Elements resource through the Financial Literacy Foundations Educators and Trainers Network.

Complementing the three volume series is a 32 page Colouring book which provides a simple story and the ability for colouring activities.

Together the Money Makes the World go Around books inspire, entertain and most of all inform.
